What are the responsibilities and job description for the SEASONAL PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER INTERNSHIPS (2025) position at MDC?
To safeguard the public, on Metropolitan District Commission property, parks, recreation areas and grounds, to patrol recreation areas as directed, and to assist with parking and traffic control. Required to work with and assist Sworn Police Personnel, and to assist other full and part time and seasonal employees at recreational areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a current valid State of Connecticut driver's license, high school diploma or GED is required. Must be currently enrolled in college with course work preferred in criminal justice. Must pass a background investigation.
Special skills or abilities related to position : Ability to comprehend and comply with both written and oral instructions; Ability to control both large crowds and vehicular traffic; Ability to maintain composure, and exercise proper judgment in stressful situations; Possession of adequate tact, and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to stand and walk for long periods, sufficient ability to run, if necessary, and to respond to emergency situations; Ability to work in all climate conditions, both inside and outside; and the ability to work Holidays and weekends.
