Summary

We are seeking a skilled masonry technician to join our team at MDG Design and Construction for our affordable housing projects in the Bronx and Manhattan. This position is essential for supporting our construction projects, ensuring high-quality workmanship, and contributing to our mission of community improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Support aspects of Masonry projects, ensuring they are completed on time

• Capable of reading and understanding Façade drawings
• Survey building façade and roof using rigs or manlift
• Mark-up façade drawings with any additional scope of work (prepare RFI, As-built & Punchlist)
• Work with masonry/roofing subcontractor to put together submittals package
• Run take-off for materials needed for masonry and roofing work
• Support with ordering materials, ensuring they are available when needed.
• Participate in weekly site meeting and coordination between trades
• Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure all masonry work follows façade drawings and meets project specifications.
• Coordinate site visit with Special Inspection Agency and subcontractor
• Support project schedules, ensuring timely completion of masonry work.
• Identify and resolve issues that arise during the project, ensuring minimal delays and cost overruns.
• Ensure a safe work environment by implementing and enforcing safety protocols.
• Assist the Project Manager with subcontractor’s requisition and defining percentage of work completed on the building.
• Assist the Project Manager with managing Architect / Engineer or SIA on site

Essential Skills:

• Knowledge of masonry techniques, materials, and construction practices
• Strong understanding of construction safety regulations and procedures
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain instructions and provide feedback.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet project deadlines.
• Knowledge and able to use MS Office; Word, Excel and Outlook-Calendar

Experience and Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of experience in masonry construction.
• Bachelor’s degree or striving to complete an Architectural or Engineering Degree preferred can be beneficial

Certifications:

• OSHA-30, SST Card a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
