Job Summary:
Medical Diagnostic Laboratories (MDL) is a CLIA certified clinical laboratory with multiple state licensing, specializing in state of the art, automated DNA based molecular analysis of a variety of chronic and infectious illnesses. MDL specializes and performs Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) with a larger menu of testing available in the field of infectious disease.
Our main theme of research is in the field of Gynecology, Infectious Diseases, Infectious Arthritis, Tick-borne Diseases, Mycology, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
Medical Diagnostic Laboratories is seeking a Full-Time Histology Technician (Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday 8:30am-5pm)
The job purpose of the histology technician is to perform the duties and responsibilities in the histology laboratory which are required for the production of high quality, accurate slides from patient tissue materials for examination by the pathologists.
Essential Functions:
Accessioning of surgical specimens in the laboratory information system, as needed.
Grossing of routine surgical specimen as approved by the pathologist or medical director.
Performs routine processing of tissues, including (but not limited to):
Tissue processing
Embedding
Cutting
Staining
Performance and recording of equipment maintenance.
May need to move items of moderate weight (20-25 lbs).

Fluent in English
Requirements:
Associate degree in a chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution, OR
Education/training equivalent to the above as specified by CAP/CLIA (60 semester hours, including 24 semester hours that include 6 hours of chemistry, 6 hours of biology, and 12 hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology. As well as three months of training in all required specialties.
Must qualify for high complexity testing personnel as above or upon completion of training.

Ability to sit, stand, walk, repetitive motion
Proficient visual and audio skills
May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and fixed/frozen tissue.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in science
0-2 years related experience
