MDM is currently seeking a skilled Logistics Manager to join our team. As a Shipping and receiving manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our shipping department, ensuring that all products are delivered to our customers in a timely and efficient manner.
Company Overview:
MDM specializes in fabricating aftermarket HVAC components using sheet metal and a variety of equipment such as CNC Salvagnini Laser and Panel Bender, Automated Mestek Industry Coil lines, CNC Accupress Press Brakes, Spot Welders, etc. We maintain a combined manufacturing facility of 160,846 sq. ft.; featuring 4 facilities.
SUMMARY:
The Shipping/Receiving Manager will independently lead and assist a team of Shipping/Receiving personnel by developing, implementing, and maintaining distribution and receiving processes within our shipping facilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordination with Customer Service:
- Communicate with Customer Service to coordinate shipment of orders.
- Delegate daily workload (picking and packing) to shipping personnel and follow up to ensure completion.
- Coordinate drivers for delivery routes and schedules.
- Verify and sign off on each sales order to ensure accuracy in item, item quantity, and packaging (box versus pallet shipments, and group shipments).
- Coordination with Production Departments:
- Work with Production teams to ensure materials are completed on time for scheduled deliveries.
- Shipping and Order Management:
- Manage shipping schedules for all sales orders.
- Ensure all shipments are properly tagged or labeled for shipping, using shipping documents as references.
- Oversee the closing process within ERP software after shipment.
- Ensure that all sales orders and shipments are loaded and unloaded safely and according to priority.
- Maintenance Coordination:
- Collaborate with the Maintenance department to address any equipment repair needs, including commercial vehicles and forklifts.
- Staff Management and Training:
- Manage, mentor, and train shipping and receiving staff per job function.
- Work with Human Resources to hire resources as needed.
- Conduct performance reviews to promote accountability.
- Ensure certifications (e.g., Drivers & Forklift Operators) are kept current.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Experience and Skills:
- Detailed knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, inventory control, forklift operations, and safe loading and unloading practices.
- Experience with ERP systems for transaction management.
- Valid Class C driver’s license (must be clean and able to travel to various property sites regularly).
- Knowledge of state and federal safety requirements for CDL drivers.
- Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.

- Ability to work in varying temperatures and climates (outdoors and within a warehouse environment).
