Utility Locator Specialist

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Utility Line Locator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately locating and marking underground utilities to prevent damage during construction and excavation activities. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in various outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Utilize specialized equipment to locate and mark underground utilities, including water, gas, electric, and telecommunications lines.
• Read blueprints and schematics to understand utility layouts and ensure accurate marking.
• Conduct field surveys to assess the location of utilities in relation to construction sites.
• Collaborate with construction teams to provide utility location services on-site.
• Maintain accurate records of utility locations and any relevant site conditions.
• Operate equipment such as forklifts and backhoes as necessary for utility locating tasks.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working in the field.
• Communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding utility locations and potential hazards.

Experience

• Previous experience in utility locating or a related field is preferred.
• Familiarity with cabling systems and service technician roles is a plus.
• Experience working on construction sites or in field service positions is advantageous.
• Knowledge of land surveying techniques is beneficial for accurate utility mapping.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery, including backhoes and forklifts, is desirable.
• Strong skills in blueprint reading and understanding technical drawings are essential.
