Studio Lead, Structural Engineering
Responsibilities
- Serves as a technical expert within the engineering team to plan the design process and solve problems of large scope and complexity
- Establishes, designs, and specifies project-appropriate engineering requirements
- Leads site investigations and observations
- Prepares narratives, reports, calculations, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints
- Facilitates cross-discipline discussions and coordination
- Reviews engineering documents for quality and compliance with code and program requirements
- Participates in Construction Administration by reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFI's, solving construction issues, and performing site visits to assess general conformance with the design concept
- Develops training and educational opportunities for the engineering team
- Leads the establishment and maintenance of engineering quality control processes and procedures
- Plans, organizes, and directs the work of Engineers, EITs, and designers
- Mentors and encourages the development of junior professionals and designers
- Develops training and educational opportunities for the engineering team
- Models and or coaches other engineers how to effectively communicate
- Facilitate discipline project team creation in pursuit and delivery activities
- Responsible for implementation of discipline standard practices in studio to facilitate one brand practice
- Responsible for identifying discipline Subject Matter Experts specific to markets and technical experience within studio and communicating expertise to Discipline Director and National Director of Engineering
- Participate or identify key personnel for participation in development of specific standardization practices identified by Discipline Director and National Director of Engineering
- Responsible for communicating studio resource needs to Operations Director and Discipline Director for work sharing and recruiting coordination
- Responsible for communicating engineering specific business development efforts in studio to Discipline Director
- Participates in recruiting and hiring for discipline
- Attends client meetings and communicates with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development
- Performs marketing and business development activities including building relationship with key clients and strategic partners, proposal writing, fee estimates, and client interviews
- Travel for marketing and project-related activities will be required
Qualifications
General Characteristics
Salary range for this position varies between $95,000 - $145,000, depending upon applicable experience.
