About the Role
As a Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing industrial automation systems within our foundry operations. You will be responsible for PLC programming, process control, and system integration to ensure reliable, efficient, and safe production. This position requires a strong background in industrial control systems, automation technologies, and electronic troubleshooting .
Responsibilities
- Design, program, and troubleshoot PLCs (Siemens preferred) and operator interface devices to maintain and enhance process control systems.
- Maintain, optimize, and repair automation systems, including SCADA, VFD motor controllers, high-voltage systems, and analog/digital circuitry.
- Support and troubleshoot industrial communication networks, including Ethernet, Profibus, and Wonderware software.
- Analyze and resolve control system malfunctions to minimize downtime and improve production efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement automation solutions that support continuous improvement.
- Provide technical expertise in electrical design and supervise the installation of automation-related equipment.
- Develop preventive maintenance programs to ensure long-term reliability of automation and control systems.
- Work closely with equipment manufacturers and vendors to resolve operational challenges and implement best-in-class automation solutions.
- Maintain accurate documentation for control system configurations, troubleshooting logs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards and quality management protocols to support operational excellence.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Controls, Automation, or related field) or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in PLC programming, industrial automation, and process control.
- Proficiency in Siemens PLCs (or equivalent), HMI programming, and SCADA systems.
- Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, including VFDs, high-voltage equipment, and digital/analog circuitry.
- Experience with industrial networking protocols (Ethernet, Profibus, Modbus, etc.).
- Familiarity with Wonderware software and other industrial automation tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot and assess mechanical/electrical systems for repair and optimization.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration and reporting.
- Flexibility to work off-shift as needed to support production demands.
