ME-Elecmetal is a mid-sized manufacturing company with metal foundries in Duluth, MN and Tempe, AZ, and employees from Chile, China, and all over the world. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Intern to join our team for the summer at our office in Minneapolis, MN.
Position Overview
This internship offers hands-on cybersecurity experience working on real-world security projects. From risk management to log analysis to incident response, you'll assist our cybersecurity team in protecting digital assets and helping to ensure the security of information systems.
Responsibilities
- Security Projects: Participate in cybersecurity projects that align with your career goals.
- Implement Security Measures: Assist in the implementation of security measures using the latest technology such as EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response), DLP (Data Loss Prevention), SIEM (Security Event and Incident Management), KQL scripting, AI Monitoring, Firewalls, Access controls, etc.
- Security Analyst: Assist in monitoring security alerts and incidents, threat hunting, and identify threats.
- Incident Response: Assist our response team to investigate, resolve and document security incidents.
- Conduct Vulnerability/Risk Assessments: Help perform vulnerability and risk assessments to identify security weaknesses.
- Update Security Programs/Policies: Help review and update cybersecurity policies, procedures and checklists to improve efficiency and maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Legal: Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer.
- Education: Must be currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. IT/security experience is a plus but not necessary.
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of IT tools and principles: Windows OS, Office, Excel, etc. Familiarity with security tools and technologies is a plus: EDR, SIEM, firewalls, encryption, AV software, etc.
- Skills: Analytical and problem-solving skills, Attention to detail. Ability to work independently and on a team.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective use of email, teams and chat.
