We are ME Global Inc. We are headquartered in Minneapolis, MN and we operate two Foundry Plants in North America. One Foundry is in Tempe, AZ and the other is in Duluth, MN. We have been in business for over 100 years and have over 1000 team members operating in 5 different continents around the world. We produce metal castings for grinding media, mill liners, crushing liners, and slag pots with optimal designs and alloys specifically developed for the global mining, aggregate, and recycle industries. Our products are used by companies in over 40 countries.
ABOUT THE ROLE . . .
- Evaluate vendor performance based on personal knowledge of prices, deliveries, and overall service; maintain good relations with supplier personnel by means of courteous, impartial, and objective behavior.
- Keep constantly appraised of economic and/or business situations as they affect the Engineering and Maintenance department purchasing procedures and make decisions to adequately meet those changing conditions.
- Receive all engineering and maintenance purchasing requests; analyze each item for quantity, specifications, and delivery requirements; convert the requests to Purchase Orders and submit for approval; make sure approvals are completed and PO’s are sent to vendors in a timely fashion.
- Maintain an economically justified level of maintenance supplies inventory to assure efficient and continuous operation in Engineering and Maintenance.
- Maintain constant communication with engineering and maintenance staff to assess their supply requirements.
- Develop, investigate and evaluate current and future sources & costs of supplies; request quotes for those items not covered by any existing purchase agreements including obsolete parts; contact potential suppliers and negotiate most favorable proposals.
- Work with Engineering to develop substitutes for essential maintenance supplies if their availability may negatively affect our operations or if a more economical product might be more feasible.
- Initiate, receive and analyze quotations; compare competitive products for desirability and use.
- Continuously work towards streamlining the SAP PO process
- Assist the facilities primary buyer and the corporate buyer on special projects as required.
- Maintain Maintenance Inventory counts.
Position Qualifications
- Four-year college degree in Business or minimum of 5 years’ experience purchasing. Background in manufacturing desirable.
- Direct exposure to maintenance related vendors and any computer-based purchasing system.
- Must have an aptitude for mechanical & electrical equipment.
- Good oral/written communication/presentation skills.
