Description
Position Purpose:
Implement maintenance work programs and schedule maintenance activities to assist production in meeting its objectives by reducing equipment failures and non-productive downtime. Develop, train and motivate hourly personnel to meet the maintenance requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
Maintenance
- Work with Maintenance Superintendent to organize and implement maintenance work programs to ensure that production operations remain continuous with minimized downtime.
- Supervise, train and motivate a competent workforce to provide ongoing plant equipment maintenance and repair and complete construction projects.
- Maintain accurate equipment history files, downtime records, preventive maintenance time schedules, employee attendance and timeclock punch detail reports.
- Report situations involving major equipment breakdowns to the Maintenance Superintendent.
Quality
- Develop and audit quality control standards.
- Maintain and adhere to ISO standards, including but not limited to, the Quality Policy Statement as well as the Quality Control Procedures Manual.
Safety
- Monitor workforce activities to control the number of recordable doctor cases and loss time injuries.
- Conduct safety meeting and daily safety contacts.
- Investigate and report on all near misses and injuries and develop a corrective action plan when necessary.
- Conduct annual review of Right-To-Know material.
- Maintain showcase housekeeping.
Cost
- Operate efficiently to control direct labor and material costs.
- Encourage cost reduction ideas.

- Train and motivate a competent workforce.
- Understand and apply terms of the labor agreement as needed.
Requirements
Necessary Qualifications:
- Two-year degree or equivalent education/experience in electrical/mechanical maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot and assess the condition of equipment for mechanical and/or electrical repair and maintenance.
- Proven supervisory and management skills, as well as effective oral and written communication skills.
- Diverse human relations skills are also necessary.
