What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Intern position at Mead & Hunt?
Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has an internship opportunity for a limited-term, full-time summer position within our Transportation group at our Lexington, SC office.
The Tranpsortation group focuses on geometric design and modeling of roadways, interchanges, intersections, bridges (concrete & steel), and drainage facilities (e.g., open and closed storm drain systems, Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI), SCMs, and culverts). The design work comprises of horizontal and vertical layouts of roadways & pedestrian facilities, bridge / drainage structure detail drawings, material quantity calculations, and cost estimates.
Interns should expect the following from a summer internship experience with Mead & Hunt:
- Exposure to projects and people in all of our transportation groups
- Collaborate with project managers and colleagues on multiple transportation projects that vary in size and scope while developing familiarity with the federal, state, and local design standards
- Utilize technical software programs to analyze, prepare, and quality check client deliverables.
- Field observations and data collection
- Assist with preparation of technical reports and memos
- Participation in technical and client meetings
- Fun team-building activities that will allow you to network with professionals and interns alike
Interns will be expected to visit project sites for data collection as well as out-of-office meetings and events. Therefore, a valid driver’s license is recommended.
Successful candidates must have completed at least two semesters of college-level coursework in civil engineering or a related field.

Hourly Rate Range: $19.00 to $25.00 – Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
