Job Title: HSE Manager (Heavy Industrial)
Location: League City, TX
Reports to: President
Locations Covered: 2 (Total Employees: 150) Will be occasional travel
Team Composition: Industrial: Welders, Maintenance Technicians, Machinists, etc.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager with a strong background in industrial or heavy industrial environments. This position is responsible for leading and managing safety initiatives across two facilities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with hazardous waste, TCEQ, EPA, and a basic understanding of RCRA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Policy & Procedure Development: Implement and maintain HSE policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with TCEQ, EPA, OSHA, and RCRA regulations concerning hazardous waste, environmental impact, and workplace safety.
- Team Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with all departments, emphasizing teamwork and making safety the top priority throughout both facilities.
- Training & Communication:
- Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Lead stand-up trainings and job-specific safety briefings.
- Ensure all employees are engaged and educated on plant safety awareness.
- Proactive Safety Management:
- Manage safety on the floor through regular walk-arounds and visible leadership.
- Develop and enforce disciplinary plans for first-time and repeat safety offenders.
- Incident Response:
- Conduct thorough risk analyses and safety audits.
- Investigate injuries and incidents, ensuring root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Employee Engagement: Foster a safety-first culture through positive reinforcement, coaching, and consistent communication.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain all HSE records, metrics, and incident logs. Prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in an HSE Manager or Senior Safety role in an industrial or heavy industrial setting.
- Strong preference for Associate or Bachelor degree
- Proven knowledge and experience with hazardous waste handling and disposal.
- Familiarity with RCRA rules and regulations
- Experience with EPA, TCEQ a plus
- Strong knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example and manage safety in a hands-on, proactive manner.
- Ability to influence and work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies and maintaining a behavior based safety environment
- Incident investigation techniques.
Preferred Certifications:
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
- CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager)
- OSHA 30 or 510 Certification
- RCRA/DOT Training Certification
Salary $127K - $152K plus car allowance and gas card.
