Position Summary:
The Banquet Captain is responsible for providing exemplary guest service and seamless operation of Banquet functions. Additionally, the Banquet Captain is responsible for the training and supervising servers during an event and assigning servers to event tasks that are aligned with the capabilities of each individual server. As well maintain close communication with the Event Manager before and after the event to ensure the value of the guess experience.
Guest Service

- Review event order with host and take appropriate action as changes are needed
- Coordinate host special requests
- Communicate host's needs clearly to service personnel and manager
- Ensuring guest comfort

Operations
- Ensure staffing is presentable with complete uniform.
- Review the Banquet Event Order and ask supervisor for any question they may not be very clear or explanatory on the Banquet event order and have copies of the banquet event order for the rest of the team, to have better understanding of the event during the pre-shift meeting.
- Complete equipment checklist prior to the day of the event if possible, otherwise review the equipment list with Staffa arrival to insure any last minute changes on the event.
- Establish a cohesive communication with the kitchen team before the event start and go over all the requirements, timing, guarantee numbers, special requests and appropriate desserts. And maintain positive communication throughout the event.
- Assist in transportation, set up and breakdown of banquet function
- Carry out instructions and inspect room for proper set-up according to event order
- Inspect banquet areas (front and back of the house) for cleanliness, order and maintenance, taking corrective action when needed
- Be knowledgeable of food and beverage menu for each event
- Assist in service of food and beverage as needed
- Know and follow California liquor laws
- Ensure that wine is not over-poured
- Maintain proper care and cleanliness of service equipment
- Ensure that servers take breaks as appropriate during events
- Maintain cash bank (for cash bar) during event
- Return cash bank to manager after event
- Complete and return beverage requisitions at conclusion of event
- At the end of each event a captain report completed and distributed the respective managers, regarding guest positive comments and any feedback, describe if any solution were taking that will help the team to grow and improved professionally
Supervision
- Know and follow county and state ordinances. Eg. Noise, light, etc…
- Oversee two or more servers per event and/or events, or act as supervisor of any event as determined by the Banquet Manager
- Train servers regarding Meadowood service standards, procedures
- Assign servers to banquet event tasks based upon familiarity with server capabilities
- Ensure adherence to all service standards and procedures
- Ensure adherence to all appearance standards of servers
- Provide continual supervision of servers before, during and after event
- Ensure all safety procedures are being followed at all times and report any issues.

Qualification and Experience Required:
- 2-5 years of experience in Banquet Service, Catering, or Hospitality
- Experience in roles such as Banquet Server, Server Supervisor, or Event Coordinator
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience is a
- Knowledge of Dining Service Skills
- Food Safety Certification
- TIPS or Alcohol Service Certification
- Valid driver license
Special Skills/Abilities Required:
- Fluent verbal skills in English required
- Ability to actively listen and provide clear, coherent responses to clients regarding their needs
- Basic writing skills
- Ability to work cohesively in a team environment with flexibility and respect
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to accommodate opportunities that relate to last minute changes or requests
Physical Demands of Position:
- Able to be on feet, walking for long periods of times
- Lifting of items up to 25 pounds
- Bending, squatting, kneeling and reaching
