Monitoring Pool- Lifeguards are responsible for continuously observing the swimming areas to ensure the safety of all patrons. This includes scanning the water for signs of distress, monitoring behavior, and identifying potential hazards.

Enforcing Safety Rules-Lifeguards must enforce all pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe environment. This includes reminding swimmers of safety protocols, such as no running, diving in shallow areas, or engaging in horseplay.

Responding to Emergencies-Lifeguards are trained to respond promptly and effectively to emergencies. This includes performing rescues, administering first aid, and using CPR techniques when necessary. Lifeguards must remain calm and composed under pressure to ensure the safety of individuals in distress.

Conducting Safety Inspections-Regular inspections of the swimming area, including equipment and facilities, are essential. Lifeguards check for cleanliness, proper functioning of safety equipment (like life rings and rescue tubes), and any potential hazards that could endanger swimmers.

Providing Customer Service - Lifeguards often serve as the first point of contact for patrons. They should provide excellent customer service by answering questions, offering assistance, and ensuring a positive experience for all visitors at the facility.

Documenting Incidents- In the event of an emergency or incident, lifeguards must accurately document the details. This includes writing reports on rescues, injuries, or any other significant occurrences, which can be vital for future reference or legal purposes

Monitoring Weather Conditions: -Lifeguards must be vigilant about changing weather conditions that could impact safety, such as storms, high winds, or extreme temperatures. They are responsible for clearing the water and advising patrons when conditions become unsafe.

Adapting to Diverse Situations-Lifeguards must be adaptable, as each day can present different challenges. Whether dealing with a large crowd, a special event, or unexpected emergencies, they must be prepared to adjust their approach accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a lifeguard
  • Trained in CPR and first aid
  • Certified Lifeguard Training (preferred)
  • Physical stamina and excellent swimming skills
  • Sharp vision and hearing
  • Excellent decision-making skills
  • Effective communication skills and ability to educate others
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Weekends as needed
