As the Assistant Director of Nursing you will assist the DON in providing direction and guidance to the nursing staff to ensure delivery of best possible nursing services. Designated Infection Control/Employee Health Nurse.
Essential Duties Include:
- Promotes patient safety through awareness of the environment of care and in all actions that involve patient care.
- Communicates patient safety issues quickly, clearly, and effectively with other staff members.
- Assist the Director of Nursing in establishing and maintaining the highest standards of nursing care and practice utilizing the Companys policies and procedures, nursing standard of care, State regulations and Joint Commission regulations.
- Performs quality control checks on charts and participates in performance improvement activities.
- Assist in developing, implementing and evaluating a program to promote the recruitment, retention, development, continuing education and advancement goals of nursing staff members.
- Utilizes supervisory skills to assess skill levels of staff and provides feedback, provides input to complete staff evaluations.
- Performs the duties of the Infection Control / Employee Health Nurse, including infection control surveillance, analysis, and interpretation of data.
- Educates staff and patients about HIV and other communicable diseases as needed.
- Serves as a member of committees as assigned.
- Assists the DON in ensuring clinical oversight is completed for staff per State regulations.
- Assesses staffing plans to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective patient care.
- Participates in evaluating and integrating health care technology and information management systems that support patient care needs and the efficient utilization of nursing resources.
- Provides call coverage in absence of the Director of Nursing.
- Ability to converse with others in English to give, take and process information; extensive use of telephone.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, multi-task, coordinate projects and record/transcribe general and specific meeting minutes.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Communicate with other staff in relaying concerns and observations involving patient safety.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
- Bachelors Degree preferred
- AZ Registered Nurse License in good standing.
- One year of psychiatric nursing experience required.
