Responsibilities:
- Provide local transportation including, but not limited to, courier runs between the facilities.
- Provide patient transportation to and from the airport, appointments and meetings.
- Practices safe driving, obeying all traffic laws.
- Performs routine vehicle checks before using the vehicle.
- May perform admission duties in the absence of the Transportation Supervisor / Admission Clerk.
Education, Skills, & Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
- Valid State Drivers License with an excellent driving record.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Previous transportation experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Ability to provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
Physical / Working Conditions and Requirements of the Driver Position:
- 70% time sitting (driving a vehicle)
- 20% time standing (greeting visitors, copying, faxing, filing)
- 5% time walking (touring grounds, distribution)
- 5% time bending (access files/reports/supplies)
- Up to 50 pounds weight lifted/carried without assistance and high level of physical mobility to assist patients
- Ability to use telephones extensively; ability to relay clear written messages; ability to use computer keyboard and calculator extensively.
- Ability to effectively read, write and process information; ability to input/retrieve information to/from computer and files.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, multi-task, coordinate projects and record/transcribe general and specific meeting minutes. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Occasional/limited exposure to: Infection and to the risk of blood-borne diseases; hazardous agents, body fluids and wastes; unpleasant patient or departmental elements; to potentially violent/aggressive patients/staff/visitors, critical incidents, and/or sentinel events. Occasionally needed to work irregular hours or additional hours.
