Position Summary:
Assists in providing direction and guidance to the nursing staff to ensure delivery of best possible nursing services. Designated Infection Control/Employee Health Nurse.
Essential Job Functions:
- Promotes patient safety through awareness of the environment of care and in all actions that involve patient care. Communicates patient safety issues quickly, clearly, and effectively with other staff members.
- Establishes and maintains the highest standards of nursing care and practice utilizing the Company’s policies and procedures, nursing standard of care, State regulations and Joint Commission regulations.
- Performs quality control checks on charts and participates in performance improvement activities.
- Assist in developing, implementing and evaluating a program to promote the recruitment, retention, development, continuing education and advancement goals of nursing staff members. Utilizes supervisory skills to assess skill levels of staff and provides feedback, provides input to complete staff evaluations.
- Performs the duties of the Infection Control / Employee Health Nurse, including infection control surveillance, analysis, and interpretation of data. Educates staff and patients about HIV and other communicable diseases as needed. Serves as a member of committees as assigned.
- Assists in ensuring clinical oversight is completed for staff per State regulations. Documentation for medical records and reports is timely, legible, thorough, and in required format.
- Assesses staffing plans to ensure the delivery of efficient and effective patient care. Adheres to safe practice of medication administration. Provides medication education on all new medications and respond to additional questions or concerns the patient may have regarding medications.
- Participates in evaluating and integrating health care technology and information management systems that support patient care needs and the efficient utilization of nursing resources
- Actively participates as a member of the treatment team, collaborating on the needs of the patients. Implements the nursing care plans for patients in accordance with physician orders, policies and procedures of the facility and safe nursing practices.
- Position competencies per skills assessment attached.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Current CA or Compact State Registered Nurse License in good standing.
- CPR and CPI certification.
- At least 2 years of experience in a behavioral health setting.
