Housekeeper
Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Housekeeper position is to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation for all properties, buildings, equipment and furniture while adhering to all safety codes. The job responsibilities include providing a clean and safe environment for the residents to live in and for staff to work in. You are entrusted to ensure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Housekeeper Duties:
- Perform the day-to-day housekeeping functions, as assigned.
- Coordinate daily housekeeping services with direct care staff when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.
- Perform assigned tasks in accordance with established housekeeping procedures.
- Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manor.
- Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
- Assure that established infection control practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.
- Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc., in resident rooms, recreational areas, etc., as instructed.
- Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures. Assure that water marks are removed from fixtures.
- Clean windows/mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways.
- Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc. (Note: Assure that appropriate CAUTION/SAFETY signs are properly setup PRIOR to performing such duties.)
- Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner.
- Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to supervisor.
- Assure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.
- Assure that an adequate supply of housekeeping supplies is maintained in utility/janitorial closets.
- Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and end of the work day.
Relationship Duties:
- Puts Customer Service first; ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the residents needs and rights
- Demonstrate a passion for caring as evidenced by interaction with co-workers, residents, families, and visitors
- Relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the community
Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Effectively communicate in the English language and follow written and verbal instructions
- 6-months experience in a senior community setting (preferred)
Physical Demands:
- It may require exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift/move objects.
- Functional requirements include constant standing and walking
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, turning and stretching.
- Finger and hand dexterity are required.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
