Position Summary:
Performs Radiology and CT studies to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to the care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from infants to geriatric. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all JCAHO, federal, and state laws.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education
High School graduate or equivalent
Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology
Is registered or eligible for registry by the ARRT in Radiography and cross trained in CT/MRI/Mammography or Registered in CT/MRI/Mammography within 12 months of hire.
BLS required by completion of hospital orientation.
Essential Functions
Provides patient education
Assists in maintaining records and reports
Takes call as scheduled
Interacts professionally with patients, patient’s family, physicians, physician’s offices, and other departments throughout the hospital to ensure the appropriate and highest quality of patient care
Demonstrates good radiation safety practices
Is able to perform radiographic and CT (or mammography), for all age groups including: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
Is familiar with the proper procedure for screening patients for contrast risks, injecting contrast, and contrast reactions
Starts INT’s using proper technique
Is familiar with the RIS, Teleradiology, Teleneurology, AW Workstation, and PACS systems
Monitors departmental activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency of procedures
Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient
Is familiar with and follows HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
Administers Oral and IV contrast under the direction and supervision of a Radiologist
Work involves potential exposure to ionizing radia Minimum Education
