LABORATORY PROCESSING TECHNICIAN - FT
This is for a full-time processing technician in the Pathology laboratory. The hours may vary slightly due to staffing constraints and workload. There is also a supply component for this role for the clinical laboratory.
SUMMARY
Perform laboratory specimen processing consisting of receiving, sorting, assessing, and distributing specimens of blood, urine, stool, and other biological fluids as well as pathological samples. Performs moderately complexity lab testing as needed (if applicable) and may be crossed trained in minor histological procedures.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Bachelor's or associate degree in laboratory science preferred but not required.
High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
Recent training and experience in laboratory technology strongly preferred.
Must be able to communicate and effectively exchange information with laboratory staff, nursing staff, physicians, physician office staff, patients, patient’s families, other customers, and guests.
Requires judgment including prioritizing tasks according to medical urgency, efficiency, and good guest relations skills.
Stroke education is required. Refer to Administrative Policy A-148 for specific education requirements.
