What are the responsibilities and job description for the PHARMACY CLERK-FULL TIME position at Meadville Medical Center?
Send drug orders to the wholesaler via dedicated computer software program, obtaining needed items in a timely manner and utilizing contracts whenever possible unless directed otherwise by Pharmacy Manager.
Place emergency drug orders as needed from other hospitals, suppliers, or local pharmacies.
Place supply and equipment orders as directed by the Pharmacy Manager.
Place IV orders with supplier on agreed upon schedule.
Accept (receive) drug orders, unpack, sort, and sticker drugs, placing in correct location in the pharmacy. Code and send invoices to the accounts payable department.
Process department and physician charges by the end of the month.
Multiple times per week, survey existing stock for low supply, medications in incorrect locations, broken or unusable medications.
Process payments for rebates and drug returns, work with assigned technician to coordinate reconciliation of outdate drug returns and identify ways to reduce drug outdates.
Assist in drug recall process by checking order history and stocked items in the pharmacy as directed by Pharmacy Manager or Supervisor.
Maintain records of controlled substances received into the pharmacy by filing completed DEA 222 forms and monthly records of controlled substances received (as provided by the wholesalers). Track and record use of DEA 222 forms, reorder when needed.
Order C-II drugs using "CSM" balances as guide. Fill out DEA 222 form for approval and signature of manager or pharmacist designee.
