Position Overview:
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Pantry Driver with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and air brake endorsements to join our team. This position drives between 1-3 hours per shift from our Warehouse location in Naples to our Pantry locations throughout Collier/Lee counties. The remainder of the shift is dedicated to setting up our mobile food stations to sort and distribute food to clients. The Pantry Driver is responsible for efficiently distributing food to designated locations, assisting the Warehouse team, and coordinating volunteer activities at Pantry events. This role requires the ability to repeatedly lift heavy objects and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and customer service.

Meals of Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating hunger and food insecurity across the USA. We distribute nutritious meals to local communities through partnerships with volunteers, donors, and food distribution networks. With a mission-driven approach, Meals of Hope serves as a vital lifeline, providing essential support and nourishment to those in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and Load Trucks: Ensure trucks are clean, properly maintained, and loaded with necessary food supplies for distribution.
- Assist in Warehouse Operations: Support warehouse activities such as organizing inventory, receiving deliveries, and packaging food items for distribution.
- Distribute Food: Safely transport and deliver food to designated locations following established delivery routes and schedules.
- Train and Place Volunteers: Assist in training volunteers on food safety, best food handling procedures, and food sorting/distribution.
- Communicate Needs: Effectively communicate delivery schedule changes, pantry needs, and any issues that arise during deliveries to the mobile pantries. Provide feedback to improve efficiency and service quality. Work closely with Pantry lead/manager to ensure events run smoothly.
- Adhere to Safety Standards: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and guidelines while driving, loading/unloading trucks, and handling food items.
- Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of deliveries, and volunteer activities. Report any discrepancies or issues promptly to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid CDL with air brake endorsements.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more repeatedly.
- Proven experience in driving commercial vehicles preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to food safety, hygiene practices, and customer service excellence.
- Spanish and Creole Speaking a plus, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to drive for long periods of time (greater than or up to 4 hours)
- Capability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) in pantry operations.
- Comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures (hot/humid/cold/rainy)
Work Schedule:
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Additional hours or occasional weekends may be required based on operational needs.
