Job Summary:
Meals on Wheels is seeking a passionate and dedicated Community Engagement Specialist to focus on recruiting, training, and engaging volunteers for our vital meal delivery program. The ideal candidate will have experience in volunteer management, community outreach, and building relationships that encourage ongoing participation. This role will support the expansion and sustainability of our volunteer base, ensuring the highest level of service for our homebound senior clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Volunteer Recruitment:
Identify and implement strategies to recruit volunteers, ensuring the program has the necessary support to meet client needs. Use various channels (social media, website, local events, partnerships) to raise awareness and attract volunteers. Respond to all new volunteer inquiries and applications promptly.
- Volunteer Training:
Develop and facilitate comprehensive training programs for new and current volunteers, ensuring they are well-equipped to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate service to clients. Conduct orientation sessions, distribute training materials, and offer ongoing support.
- Volunteer Engagement:
Foster a strong sense of community and purpose among volunteers through regular communication, appreciation events, and engagement activities. Develop and implement retention strategies to ensure volunteer satisfaction and long-term participation.
- Partnership Building:
Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, schools, community organizations, and faith-based groups to promote volunteer opportunities and create new avenues for volunteer engagement.
- Record Keeping and Reporting:
Maintain accurate volunteer records, including hours worked, training completion, and any relevant feedback. Assist in tracking volunteer metrics and providing reports on volunteer engagement and program impact.
- Community Outreach & Advocacy:
Act as a representative for Meals on Wheels in the community, promoting the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Attend local events, fairs, and civic meetings to promote the volunteer program and build community support.
