Overview
The Cook Assistant, directed by the Kitchen manager, assists with daily food preparation for meals. As such, this person is responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of the food on the menu for any day and having it ready for the delivery volunteers by the agreed upon time.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and cooking all meals, as per the menu for the day, in specified number.
- Prioritize kitchen activities in preparing, cooking and cleaning to meet timelines.
- Assist with oversight of the volunteers in the kitchen.
- Maintains kitchen operations in compliance with all appropriate Health Dept. rules and regulations regarding sanitation.
- Monitor and maintain portion control, ensuring adequate supply for daily meal counts.
- Assist with cold & hot meal packing by route, monitoring meal counts.
- Rotate food stock on a first in first out (FIFO) basis.
- Minimize food waste.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.
Qualifications
1-2 years kitchen experience, prior large volume/institutional cooking experience preferred. Ability to work with varying team members and adhere to strict time constraints.
Anticipated Schedule: 10:30-1:30, Monday-Friday (15 hours/week)

Pay: $17.00 per hour
