Meals on Wheels People is an organization founded in and by the community! Over the past 50 years, our non-profit has helped thousands of older adults in the Portland Metro area keep their independence through weekly meal delivery and social connections. With over 20 meal delivery centers throughout Multnomah, Washington, and Clark counties, our staff and thousands of volunteers ensure that no adult over 60 goes hungry or experiences social isolation.
We are looking for a Site Manager to join our team in Washington County. The Site Manager will support programs that promote multicultural participation and socialization among seniors, fostering community engagement. They will manage local meal service partnerships and contracts while ensuring successful fundraising efforts to meet established goals. This position requires travel within the assigned service area to support senior dining programs and community outreach initiatives. Our ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in program management, be bilingual, highly organized, and possess great interpersonal skills.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Oversee and nurture partnerships and contracts for meal services targeting food-insecure and isolated populations within the assigned service area, ensuring compliance with established standards.
- Ensure the safe and efficient preparation of meals for senior dining services, adhering strictly to the Meals on Wheels People Food Service Manual and Health Department regulations while traveling throughout the assigned service area.
- Achieve client satisfaction benchmarks of the Strategic Plan
- Strategically plan and implement multicultural meal programs designed to attract diverse participants and enhance attendance, aligning with client satisfaction goals outlined in the Strategic Plan.
- Monitor site operations to ensure compliance with approved budgets by tracking inventory and expenses effectively.
- Volunteer Management:
- Lead the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers, ensuring a safe and supportive work environment for all participants.
- Implement recruitment strategies, screen candidates, schedule shifts, and recognize volunteer contributions to foster a dedicated volunteer base.
- Work collaboratively to meet or exceed fundraising goals as detailed in the annual fundraising plan, engaging with community partners and stakeholders as necessary.
- Develop and sustain effective community relations within the assigned service area, promoting the mission and services of Meals on Wheels People.
- Assist in the planning and execution of regional community events designed to raise awareness about Meals on Wheels People services, contributing to the achievement of annual fundraising and community development objectives.
- Complete all required administrative tasks as assigned, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Ensure that Meals on Wheels People property and inventories are properly maintained and secured during travel and site visits.
- Participate in in-service training and attend required meetings to stay informed about best practices and organizational updates.
- Uphold and promote the mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of Meals on Wheels People, Inc.
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education & Knowledge
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate certification or two years of work experience in, Gerontology, Management, Social Work, Community Nutrition, or other related field is preferred
- Knowledge of food service procedures
- Current Food Handler’s Card or ability to obtain within two weeks of hire
- Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire
Skills, Abilities & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in nutrition management or program management position
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and transportation required
- Bilingual/Bicultural Skills Preferred: We are looking for candidates with proficiency in Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, or any Asian or African languages. An additional $1/hour will be provided for those who pass a fluency exam in one of these preferred languages.
- Proven ability to effectively engage and manage a team of employees and volunteers
- Excellent organizational, record-keeping, time management, and multi-tasking skills, including the ability to set priorities and be flexible to last-minute changes
- Skills and motivation to work with and communicate with multicultural and socially diverse populations, including aging, minority, low-income, and persons with disabilities
- Proven experience in effectively managing budgets and fundraising activities
- Willing to work extended hours to support special activities and other deadlines
Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Fast-paced, with significant people interaction. May be required to move up to 50lbs and occasionally reach, bend and stoop. Ability to operate general office equipment. Must pass drug and alcohol screening and criminal background check.
