HDD Locator:
The HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) Locator, is essential in utility construction projects, ensuring accurate and safe placement of underground infrastructure. The HDD Locator’s responsibilities include locating and marking existing utilities, interpreting maps, coordinating with utility companies, and conducting on-site investigations. The HDD Locator will collaborate with the drilling team to prevent conflicts and damages, adhere to safety protocols, and possess expertise in using locating equipment. This role demands attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work in diverse environmental conditions.
What Do You Offer Us:
- Conduct surveys at drilling sites to identify and mark existing underground utilities using utility maps, locators, and specialized equipment.
- Clearly mark the proposed drill path and existing utilities, communicating effectively with the drilling team and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with drill operators and project managers for a comprehensive understanding of the drilling plan.
- Coordinate with utility companies and contractors, enforcing safety protocols and conducting briefings to address potential hazards.
- Use locating equipment for real-time tracking of the drill head, adjusting plans as needed.
- Monitor drilling accuracy and conduct post-drilling inspections for quality assurance.
- Maintain accurate records, generate reports for compliance, and ensure proper maintenance of equipment.
- Stay informed about HDD technology advancements through training sessions.
- Interact with clients and stakeholders to address concerns and provide updates.
- Read maps and blueprints, utilizing electronic detection equipment for utility location.
- Perform physical activities, adhere to safety procedures, and comply with environmental regulations.

Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
- Previous experience in a similar position.
- Essential physical abilities include standing and walking for extended periods, bending and stooping, and lifting heavy items. Occasionally, entering manholes may be required.
- Regularly work in various outdoor conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, and other elements.
- A valid driver’s license is essential, given the job's requirement for travel to different locations.
