- Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or standards to inspect or test product throughout the manufacturing processes to determine if it is fit for conformance or customer requirements . This can include dimensional, attribute, performance, mechanical or chemical characteristics.
- Records test data, applying statistical process control procedures where applicable.
- Documents reports to validate or identify details for deviations from existing standards, where and when required .
- Supports calibration of tools and ga u ges as required .
- Operates various types of measurement equipment required to evaluate product conformance ( i.e. various coordinate measuring machines, profilometer, hardness tester, optical comparators, various gages (calipers, micrometers, protractors, etc.)
- Coordinate s activities related to Material Review Board (MRB) or supports as directed. Supports containment and/or sorting activities as requested for external or internal sorts as directed by the quality department leadership.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Skills Requirements
- Proficiency with quality inspection tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Ability to apply math ematical concepts to the degree necessary.
- Ability to determine product status based on test and inspection results.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints as applicable to the manufacturing of metals.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- One year of experience in manufacturing or engineering.
- Some physical demand; occasionally lifts light to medium -weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 25 lbs /1- 11 kgs) material.
- Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
- Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
- May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
