We are seeking a talented multi-unit operator who can be responsible for the overall operation and financial oversight of all restaurant locations across multiple states. This role directly oversees the CT locations as the multi-unit leader with GMs reporting to them and overseeing the 4 other DMs in MA, OH, CO, and DC (and beyond). The Director of Stores will lead and be accountable for consistently delivering an exceptional guest and employee experience across all locations. They will achieve this by leading, training, and developing the management and hourly teams to “be excellent”. This leader spends approximately 75% of their time working “in our locations” with a clear purpose and intent of each restaurant and visits to observe and provide feedback on the actions, behaviors, and routines of our people to continue to enhance operational excellence. Each store visit should produce a plan of action to support behavioral change and move toward success. The other 25% should be devoted to their business partners and resources to devise plans to develop the teams and move the business forward.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Model standards and expected behaviors of Mecha’s core convictions and values.
- Oversee multi-unit managers in their market. Gather feedback and act where necessary based on visit notes.
- Build an infrastructure and foundation for operational excellence through clarity of roles, goals, and available resources
- Develop the 4 wall leaders. Offer candid and supportive feedback on performance and expectations.
- Motivate and inspire General Managers, Head Chefs, and their respective management teams to perform successfully.
- Clearly and consistently communicate goals and expectations to General Managers, Head Chef, and the team. Follow up to ensure communication was understood and goals are being executed.
- Coach General Managers and Head Chefs to lead their teams to improve individual and business performance and see their potential. Offering feedback and rewarding positive performance.
- Implement progressive discipline when managers aren’t meeting the performance standards.
- Ensure that General Managers and Head Chefs implement systems and processes that are efficient, compliant with all applicable regulations, policies, and laws, and are properly documented.
- Coach managers on how to proactively build trusting relationships with the community so that the business is a cornerstone of the community. Promote Eat Justice program.
- Build trusting partnerships with other Mecha Leaders to ensure effective communication, collaboration, support, and thoughtful, well-informed decision-making
- Ensure employee relations issues are addressed and offer education on process/delivery by partnering with HR.
- Establish clear purpose and intent with each restaurant visit and assess operations, leadership, team cohesion, and performance during restaurant visits; observe individual and team performance and identify opportunities to enhance operational excellence.
- Ensures that all stores are properly staffed and have a hiring and training plan in place to support recruitment and hiring utilizing our HR platforms.
- Read nightly logbook reports and present a plan of action for improvements where necessary. Track consistent errors and patterns and work with store managers to implement fixes.
- Monitors COGS and Labor and assists store management in hitting targets.
- Conducts a walkthrough of equipment and the facility on each visit.
- Implement safety and sanitation best practices in all locations. Maintain a passing score or A score on all DOH inspections. Maintain all licenses and certifications for oneself and teams to ensure compliance with ServSafe, DOH, and state and local requirements.
- Execute reviews of salaried employees including raise recommendations. Execute Individual Development Plans or Performance improvement plans based on performance.
- Monitor financial results daily and check in with stores in real time to achieve results.
- Review and monitor monthly inventory.
- Review and approve monthly schedules before managers have posted.
- Conduct weekly payroll audit for accurate clock in/out, managers’ hours, and multi-store personnel overtime. Including Approving/Denying all PTO and expenses for district and salaried managers.
- Audit “hospitality service” from reviews, secret shops, and store visits in all stores regularly and delegate improvements where necessary.
- Available to supplement manager shifts on the schedule when the business requires.
- Performing other work related to restaurant operations as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- 5 years of previous restaurant experience is required. Successful completion of a progressive business management training program is preferred.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Excellent hospitality service to treat guests like family.
- Strong communication skills to train and inspire employees.
- Strong time management skills and accuracy in preparing reports timely according to schedule.
