Are you an individual who has been successful in public policy, advocacy, sales or who has been working in association management for several years? Do you have a background or knowledge of construction or the craft labor field? Are you looking for an opportunity to grow and evolve in your career resulting in achieving an executive position and commensurate salary? Are you a self-starter who is results oriented and who has good communication skills both orally and in writing? Are you able to look at a challenge and see potential solutions? Do you love to meet new people and form strong business ties? Do you understand how to deal with people as individual personalities?

We may have a great opportunity for you!

The Mechanical Contractors Association of Indiana is seeking an individual who is interested in training as an Associate Director. This trainee will move through a two-year competency-based training system that addresses the needs of the MCAI and its affiliated organizations. Upon successful completion of the program, a candidate will be prepared to step into the role of an Executive Director or Associate Director located in Indiana or within another affiliate of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (the national organization that is responsible for developing this training program). Initial salary range for the first two years will be between $75, to $80, depending on experience. If successful after the first two years, the salary will increase. In addition, this position offers the candidate an opportunity to further develop your network with executives in the construction field and the opportunity to run an organization. In addition, this position includes health benefits and the potential for involvement in a SEP IRA.

Under the direction of the MCAA and the Executive Directorof the MCAI, the Associate Director will learn to provide a wide range of labor relations activities in the context of a multi-employer construction industry bargaining group. This will include collective bargaining, contract administration and an understanding of the management role in ERISA benefit funds. In addition, the Associate Director will develop skills in Association activities related to advocacy, finances and accounting, marketing, and promotion of Association, advocacy initiatives, staffing operations, and discretionary activities that serve to support this Association's business operation.

The training will focus on needs the individual candidate will have. If you have experience in association management, your training will focus on the needs of the industry bargaining group. If you have experience in the construction industry, your training focus will be in the association arena.

Regardless, we are looking for individuals who reside in the Indianapolis area (our office is located on the northeast side of Indianapolis) or who are willing to relocate. Individuals must have good communication and excellent organizational skills, be able to work with a variety of individuals (business executives and those in the skilled construction trades), be open to new ideas and new methods and enjoy learning. As in any association job, it is important that individuals are confident and willing to provide volunteers credit for work accomplished.
