Mechanicville CSD is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Social Studies Teacher to join our Jr/Sr high school educational team, effective September 2, 2025. The ideal candidate will inspire students in grades 7-12 to explore history, geography, economics, and civics. The Social Studies Teacher will engage students through interactive lessons that foster critical thinking, analytical skills, and an appreciation for diverse cultures and historical perspectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Social Studies courses to students in grades 7-12, including but not limited to World History, U.S. History, Geography, Civics, and Economics.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that are aligned with state standards and promote critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages student participation, discussion, and collaborative learning.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and technology to engage students and enhance their learning experience.
- Assess and monitor student progress through tests, projects, essays, and other formative assessments.
- Provide individualized support to students to help them succeed academically and personally.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities, school committees, and extracurricular activities as needed.
