Accounts Receivable Specialist

Summary/Objective

The Accounts Receivable Specialist position is responsible for verifying and posting receipts, resolving discrepancies, and collecting moneys due the company from customers in accordance with established accounting procedures and processes.

Essential Functions

• Post customer payments by verifying and entering transactions.
• Verify validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from sales, customer service, and customers.
• Resolve valid or authorized deductions by entering adjusted entries.
• Resolve invalid or unauthorized deductions.
• Monitor open orders for release from credit hold or place orders on hold where appropriate.
• Timely communicate any changes in the customer credit status to the sales team.
• Resolve accounts in collections by contacting customers, examining customer payment plans, payment history, credit line, etc. Coordinate efforts with our sales team where needed and place orders on credit hold when necessary.

Strength Guideline: The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds, occasional lift or move up to 25 pounds and rarely lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Motion Parameters: The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Vision and Hearing: The employee is required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, at times can be high.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent plus one to three years related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Associate degree from a two-year college plus three to six years related experience.
