Mecklenburg County Emergency Services EMS Providers – 22 Positions
Full and Part-Time
Starting Salary: $40,657 - $55,497 plus excellent benefits package, Full Time employees are eligible for Hazardous Duty Benefits
Beginning this summer, Mecklenburg County will provide direct emergency medical response within the County. The EMS Providers will be the mainstay of this new service. Working as a team, performing difficult technical work responding, treating, and reacting quickly and calmly to emergency and non-emergency situations to provide efficient and immediate, advanced, and basic life support care to the ill or injured. During the work shift, ensures the operational readiness of assigned EMS facilities, and equipment by maintaining units that are properly equipped, stocked, and prepared to respond to single or multiple patient incidents. Providers will collaborate with other emergency services personnel to improve department effectiveness; participates, in accurate reporting, training, and record keeping; and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the EMS Lieutenants and works independently to develop work methods and sequences.
Requires a High School Diploma or GED. At least one (1) year of operational-level experience, in the day-to-day operations of an emergency response EMS system is preferred.
Special Requirements:
· Valid driver's license with at least three years of valid licensing, no DWI/DUI convictions, and an overall pattern of safe driving habits.
· Must meet and maintain a clear criminal background check.
· Virginia EMT, EMT-A, EMT-I, or EMT-P.
· Emergency Vehicle Operator Course.
· Certified in CPR. If ALS, certified in ACLS, and PALS.
· National Incident Management Systems – 100, 200, 700, and 800.
