The North County Regional Library, located in Huntersville, NC, is a dynamic hub serving the thriving Huntersville area. Position Summary
The Children’s Services Manager is responsible for leading one of the busiest children’s departments in the library system. Leads the delivery of educational, skills and developmental programs and services to youth ages birth to 11 and provides leadership and oversight for the children’s department staff.
Essential Functions
Lead and oversee the development of Children’s Services staff members
Lead scheduling and implementation of programs and services specific to Children’s Services
Model and inspire commitment towards achieving the library’s vision, mission, and strategies
Promote literacy and learning within the realm of Children’s Services, including with families, caregivers, teachers, and organizations
Develop and implement new ways of engaging the community and non-library users
Motivate and offer mentorship to staff
Provide timely and consistent performance feedback
Identify and monitor staff development and training needs
Embody, interpret, and implement organizational culture to staff
Develop and build an atmosphere of teamwork and camaraderie
Model and encourage internal collaboration with co-workers, departments, and Library leadership
Pursue professional development by serving on committees, and attending meetings, workshops, and conferences to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills of pertinent of the children’s department.
Support a work environment that encourages innovation within Children’s Services
Demonstrating flexibility with work schedules to meet branch and community requirements.
Serve as “Manager on Duty” when the Branch Manager is not on-site and will have fiscal responsibility for cash and financial reconciliations.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of five years of progressive Library experience, specifically in Children, Youth and/or Family Services.
Education
Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution
Licenses And Certifications
North Carolina Public Library certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment
