Position: COVID-19 K-12 Sample Collector
Location: AZ
Duration: One month, with a strong possibility of extension through the 2022-2023 School Year

Description:
Will work as a team deployed in schools for testing programs. Person(s) overseeing the collection of swab samples in the case where participants are unable to self-collect. Collector is likely to be a school nurse or subcontractor medical technician contractor. Performs and reports sample collection in a manner to promote the efficient operation of the laboratory and effective testing program. Supports training new employees in procedures and policies when required and participates in team meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with collecting consents through digital portal or in paper format;
- Manage test day setup, including, without limitation, by answering questions regarding the test day logistics and the testing process;
- Help customer determine where the test center should be located in the customer’s premises;
- Help customers develop a plan to ensure the safety of test-takers and administrators; and if requested by the customer, assist with swabbing test takers; and
- Assist the customer site with tracking the identity of students in each Pool using the tracking system or method developed by the site.
- Treat any personally identifiable information collected during the testing process as confidential, and will not copy, transmit or disclose such information in any manner.
- Scan test tubes and pack up the test tubes containing specimens for Fedex, courier or any other shipping services for shipping samples to the laboratory for processing;
- Dispose of any used materials, clean up the testing area and notify the customer that testing has concluded;
- Assist with communicating pooled and reflex testing results, as applicable, to parents and guardians of students in accordance with the customer’s direction. A Professional is not required to advise parents on how to handle a positive test result for either pooled or reflex testing.
- Receiving and cataloging medical samples for testing, with attention to organizational systems and privacy and safety regulations;
- Administering sample collections;
- Quality Control on samples collected, being responsible for proper sample collections by students, faculty and administration staff;
- Assist participants unable to provide samples on their own;
Qualifications
- Two-year associate degree or a certificate from an accredited community college or university;
- Registration/certification as CNA, CMA, LPN, or LVN
- Prior work experience in public schools or healthcare systems a plus, but not required;
- Proven experience in health care or outpatient sample collections or similar role;
- Prior experience of working with young children in day care, healthcare settings a plus;
- Comfortable working in schools and public health;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
