We are building an AI assistant that saves consumers time, money, and stress on health insurance and benefits, starting first with medical bills.

Medical bills are a massive problem. They are confusing, over 40% contain errors, 17% of claims are denied by insurance, and often represent very large sums of money. As a result, 100 million Americans are saddled with medical debt, and medical bills cause nearly 70% of personal bankruptcies in the US.

Dealing with unexpectedly high medical bills is time-consuming, complex, and stressful. Stuck between their providers, payers, and bill collectors, consumers too frequently have to make numerous phone calls, wait on hold, and even send paper letters and faxes. Appealing insurance denials, resolving billing errors, negotiating bills, and filing out-of-network claims require expert knowledge that most consumers don't have.

Thanks to AI and new healthcare regulations around data access and price transparency, we can now automate this soul-crushing work and empower consumers to fight back against this broken system. Beyond medical bills, we help people through their entire healthcare journey as they pick their health insurance plans and benefits, or look for care that fits their budget.

MedBill AI is founded by 2 Oscar Health veterans, the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform and a relentless focus on serving its members. We joined Oscar pre-product, stayed through the IPO and helped it grow to over 1M members. We've worked across Oscar's entire stack and led many key projects, including its in-house telemedicine platform and claim system, positioning us uniquely to take on MedBill AI. We're proud of how Oscar raised the bar for what people should expect from their health insurance, and we’re excited to have an even larger impact with MedBill AI by taking the side of consumers unequivocally, regardless of their health insurance.

About the role

As a Founding Product Manager at Medbill AI, you will be at the intersection of technology, healthcare, and consumer advocacy. This role offers a unique blend of product management, strategic planning, and operational leadership. You will collaborate directly with the CEO and lead a team of Health Advocates to set up the foundation of our issues resolution workflows.

What you'll do

• Strategic Leadership: Partner with the CEO to define the product strategy, focusing on innovative solutions that address critical pain points in medical billing and heath insurance issues
• Product Oversight: Manage the product lifecycle, from ideation, user research, and development to launch and ongoing product analytics, ensuring our app meets the highest standard in user experience and strategically iterates towards product market fit.
• Operational Excellence: Take a leading role in establishing and optimizing our issue resolution workflows. You'll integrate advanced technology and operational improvements to build robust processes and enhance our capability to resolve user issues efficiently.
• Healthcare Expert: Work closely with our team of Health Advocates, providing them with guidance, expert knowledge, and tools, empowering them to deliver exceptional support and problem-solving capabilities.
• Market Insights: Continuously gather and analyze user feedback and industry trends, drive the research that will shape the product and company strategic decisions.

About you

• Have 5-10 years of experience in Product Management, preferably in the Healthcare sector.
• Possess a scrappy, hands-on approach, ready to dive into the details and drive real change.
• Demonstrate a strong track record of strategic decision-making.
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where new challenges and opportunities are presented daily.
• Is passionate about making healthcare more accessible and reducing the burden of medical billing.

• Salary $150K – $230K • 0.4% – 1% equity
