Charge RN
Position Summary:
Will maintain the daily supervision of nursing staff, the flow of the surgery schedule, and assist with breaks and lunches of all clinical staff. Must have a working knowledge of all surgical disciplines and sterile processing and be able to troubleshoot problems within these areas. Will also assist with QAPI projects and serve on the QAPI committee.

Responsibilities:
Charge RN duties will consist of, but are not limited to:
- Supervision of all nursing personnel.
- Maintain daily O.R. staff schedule.
- Maintain and oversee daily flow of procedures.
- Breaks and lunches to all clinical staff.
- Troubleshoot daily problems that may arise and report to the Director of Clinical Services.
- Assist Materials Manager with special equipment procurement.
- Able to serve RN functions in a room and Pre-Op or PACU as needed (see Pre-Op, PACU, and O.R. RN Job Descriptions).
- Serve on the QI committee and participate in the implementation of QI.
- Manages and complies with Center confidentiality and PHI policies and practices in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Must file an incident report for any unusual event that occurs to a patient or member of staff; this would include, but not be limited to, falls, needlestick injuries, aspiration of gastric contents, allergic reactions, and disruptive behavior by staff or patients. Also required to report any incidences or alleged incidences of abuse, harassment, or injury to self, other employees, or patients occurring at the Center or relating to the Center. Further specifications can be found in the Abuse Reporting documents and Code of Safe Practices.
- Leader for all RN staff; directs the team through regular group meetings, coaching, training, development, and assessment.
- Supervises and directs patient care.
- Acts as liaison between staff, patients, and physicians.
- Coordinates all activities within the recovery room/OR to provide for a safe, effective, and timely surgical preop and recovery.
- Assures that proper technique and practices are used according to accepted standards of practice.
- Ensures care of patient through proper identification, checking of chart, and reporting of changes in condition.
- Assures documentation of patient care meets criteria dictated by state licensing and Medicare certification regulations.
- Assesses quality of nursing care by regular review of audit results and chart documentation. Discusses treatment of selected patients with nursing staff members.
- Coordinates the employment of qualified personnel for Pre-Op/PACU/OR positions. May recommend subordinates for promotions, salary increases, or for suspension/termination.
- Helps oversee 90-day and annual staff performance evaluations.
- Follows through with orientation and training of new Pre-Op/PACU/OR staff.
- Determines need for Pre-Op/PACU/OR facilities, supplies and equipment, then recommends and substantiates requests for purchase.
- Utilizes nursing knowledge and discriminative judgment while giving direct or indirect patient care.
- Reduces chances of nosocomial infection by directing attention to infection control and environmental safety practices.
- Provides a channel of communication between events and team members in the recovery/OR room.
- Responsible for overseeing and directing all drug utilization, control, and accountability per policies.
- Makes fiscally responsible decisions around facilities, supplies and staffing that support the financial and operational growth of the business.

- Assist in O.R. as necessary.
- Performs other duties assigned by the Vice President.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN (Registered Nurse) licensure in state of California.
- Current BLS certificate.
- Current ACLS certificate. PALS, if applicable.
- At least 2 years nursing experience.
- Full command of the English language, both verbal and written.
Salary : $130,000 - $155,000
