Low Voltage Technicians
General Description:
The Low Voltage Technician can act as the on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data and security systems installation projects. The Journeyman task will be to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements, while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to supply, delivery, personnel requirements or other changes.
- Delegate individual responsibility and projects to contractors and crew members.
- Participate in hiring, managing, and mentoring personnel, including supervising the construction staff.
- Ensure that adequate resources and staffing are in place to meet project schedules and deadlines.
- Train and supervise on the safe use of tools, machinery and equipment.
- Develop and manage project budgets and quality of standards for all assigned sites.
- Resolve conflict or miscommunication quickly and provide updates on project status to the team.
- Regularly report on project status to supervisors and others as needed.
- Establish voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating and splicing cables.
- Install telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays and alarm and fire-suppression systems.
- Build cable tray and ladder racks.
- Establish connections, including programming features.
- Establish connections and integrations.
- Adhere/follow industry standards.
- Estimate required labor and materials
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work evenings, nights, holidays and weekends to support the project if needed.
- Must be self-sufficient, motivated and show initiative.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Ability to successfully complete all required federal government background security checks and clearances, including maintaining federal facility access badges, required.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and remain in compliance with our drug free workplace policies (including all applicable federal laws).
- Must provide regular status updates to Superintendents and Project Managers.
- Oversee all project-related customer satisfaction.
- Must be able to speak, read and comprehend English.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) years plus Journeyman experience (preferred):

Fiber optic and twisted pair cabling,
-
Installation of network equipment,
-
Installation of VMS and Card Access Systems,

Installation and Troubleshooting of Fire and Security Systems

- Thoroughness and attention to detail is a MUST.
- Installing, troubleshooting, and testing CAT6 and Fiber optic, unshielded and shielded twisted pair cabling required.
- Installing, splicing, terminating and testing fiber optic cabling required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:
- Ability to review, understand, process, and execute project proposals, personnel requirements, equipment and cabling specs, material management and the ability to read and interpret project drawings and specifications, tooling and transportation requirements for assigned project(s).
- Must have experience and ability to plan, direct and coordinate project activities to ensure project goals are met within the prescribed time and budget parameters.
- BICSI Certification (preferred).
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Must be able to work in the United States.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Office products, including using a PC to conduct business.
- Have working knowledge of Local Area Network concepts and how to test from a data port to the workstation.
- Required overall working knowledge of telecommunications voice and data systems, voice and data cabling and cabling infrastructure
- Must have ability to work above false ceilings, on lifts, on catwalks, fishing cables in walls, installing raceways to conceal wire, installing mud-rings in drywall, installing cable racking and trays, installing data racks and frames, etc.
Physical Requirements (as required by OSHA and ADA):
- Lift 50 pounds from ground and pull 50 pounds of force.
- Perform ladder climbing, wire pulling and conduit installation.
- Fully squat, stoop or kneel while wearing a 25-pound tool belt.
- Maintain a standing position for long period of time while performing repetitive actions such as grasping or manipulating wires.
- Work from ladders, man lifts or reach booms.
- Required to work in adverse weather including, but not limited to, cold, snow, rain, heat, etc.
