Position Summary:
A Wheelchair Van Driver functions as a non-emergency transport provider for ambulatory and wheelchair dependent clients.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must be at least 23 years of age with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check, physical and drug screening.
- Ability to obtain Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance.
- Ability to obtain Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Clearance.
- Ability to obtain Federal FBI Background Clearance.
Responsibilities:
Professional:
A Wheelchair Van Driver functions as a professional representative of Medevac Ambulance and shall support and uphold the mission, goals and objectives of the Company at all times and shall always maintain a positive customer service approach.
- Maintains a professional and neat appearance while on duty and representing Medevac Ambulance.
- Maintains a cooperative and team oriented working relationship with co-workers.
- Works and communicates effectively.
- Interacts professionally and with courtesy with all facility staff, family, patients, and clients.
- Maintains professional confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Clinical:
A Wheelchair Van Driver is responsible for safely transferring patients to their respective destinations, informing receiving parties of arrival, and transferring all patient records and belongings to the receiving destination.
- Complete the company orientation program.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all client contacts and accurately reflect interactions and transport information on a company provided tablet.
Physical Fitness Requirements:
A Wheelchair Van Driver must maintain a level of physical fitness to perform the physical requirements involved in patient care and transportation.
- Ability to push or pull a wheelchair with a patient on level surface (no less than 265 lbs total weight)
- Ability to push or pull a wheelchair with a patient on an ADA compliant incline of 1 inch rise per foot (no less than 265 lbs total weight)
- Ability to assist in transferring a patient from seated position to or from a wheelchair.
- Must be able to function for an extended period of time with-out restriction of sitting, standing, walking, or lifting to perform duties as assigned.
Driving Requirements:
A Wheelchair Van Driver must be able to safely operate a wheelchair van or other company vehicles, even over long distances and adverse weather and road conditions.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and ability to be insured to drive Company Vehicles.
- Notify management of any driving violations in order to maintain current insurability.
- Obey ALL laws and regulations regarding safe operation of a vehicle.
Staffing:
As an employee of Medevac Ambulance, a Wheelchair Van Driver shall support continuity of service through flexibility in scheduling.
- Prepared and prompt in reporting for shifts.
- Flexibility to continue past scheduled hours to provide services where needed or required.
- Shall report to work where needed to perform job duties as dictated at the needs of the client and company.
- Shifts for this postion are 11am -7pm and/or 3pm-11pm, however this schedule may be altered when neccessary to maintain client and company staffing needs.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $19.64 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
