Job Description - Ambulance Driver
As an Ambulance Driver, you will be paired with a certified EMT as part of a two person team providing medical transportation for chronically ill and injured patients. As part of the two person team you will be responsible for driving the ambulance, as well as assisting the EMT with loading and unloading of patients.
All Ambulance Drivers will be required to complete additional internal training through our onsite Educational Institute. Additional training will include, but not limited to :
CPR Certification
Ambulance Driving Course
Safe Lifting Mechanics and Techniques
Stretcher Mechanics
Frist Aid
Candidates MUST possess the following qualities to be considered for this position :
Reliable - Shows up for all scheduled shifts
Punctual - Shows up on time for all shifts
Clean Driving Record
Be able to safely lift stretcher and patient (MedEx transports patients of all sizes. Some patients weights can exceed 250lbs )
Motivated- Shows up ready to work. (MedEx offers a bonus incentive for amount of runs completed each week. This bonus can increase your pay up to an additional $3.00 / hour for that week.)
Responsibilities :
Inspecting the ambulance and determining that the vehicle is in proper mechanical condition by performing daily check off sheets and reporting known issues.
Transports patients safely in an ambulance to and from medical appointments.
Remain up to date on how to properly use all equipment used for transporting patients
Conduct yourself in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner when dealing with patients, co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
Respond promptly to assignments as required by the Dispatch Center.
Communicates with dispatch team regarding location, patient status, and other relevant information.
Be flexible as services operate on a 24-hour clock- your work shift schedule may vary due to the nature of the business.
Operates MedEx vehicles while complying with North Carolina State Law and company policies.
Demonstrates the ability to safely lift the stretcher and patient
Upon request provides assistance to the receiving medical facility staff
Maintains vehicle in efficient operating condition
Ensures that the ambulance is clean, washed and kept in a neat orderly condition.
Assists in completing any office duties, which may include cleaning office and living space.
Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Possess a valid State Driver's License
Driving record in compliance with MedEx Safety and Driving policy
Must be able to pass a drug test.
