What are the responsibilities and job description for the Feed Mill Manager position at Medford Cooperative?
OBJECTIVE:
The Feed Mill Manager will work under the direction of the Ag Services Operations Manager, coordinating the daily operations of the Feed & Grain department by efficiently scheduling deliveries and maintaining department inventory, reporting, bookkeeping, creating records and maintaining pricing as directed. All duties will be performed in a professional manner that will help achieve the Medford Cooperative’s mission and goals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet all customers with a friendly attitude and serve our customers in a friendly, efficient manner
- Promote positive culture and ensure effective communication
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Feed & Grain department. Schedule & dispatch daily delivery routes to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize delivery expenses.
- Manage and track both Feed Production and Seed inventory and dispatch deliveries efficiently.
- Manage grain receiving and accounting procedures.
- Assist with Agronomy billing procedures.
- Receive all inbound freight into our receivers and become the first approver in square 9.
- Adjust audited inventory in agvantage after each physical inventory.
- Ensure all employees are trained in safe and efficient use of all Ag Services equipment.
- Manage employee activities and request support as needed in scheduling to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime expenses.
- Conduct safety meetings with the Ag Services Team. Review and file notes and checklists.
- Establish check lists & maintain standard operating procedures for operations and safety.
- Proactively identify problems that may negatively impact the Customer’s experience. Take ownership and effectively respond in a timely manner to Customer issues/problems when he/she becomes aware of them. Mentor team to respond appropriately to customers and team mates with a lead by example approach. Elevate difficult scenarios.
- Maintain Ag Services division fleet by coordinating the preventative maintenance of vehicles, repairs and inspections to ensure safe operation and DOT compliance.
- Share ideas to market our mill and build sales with new products and programs
- Assist in coordinating training and licensing as needed
- Conduct all necessary daily reports and bookwork needed for mill operations.
- Provide front desk training to candidate in a uniform fashion to gain proficiency.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Volume Discounts programming
- Assist in developing Standard pricing model to be maintained with each incoming delivery.
- Provide quotes to customers based upon predetermined margins based upon volume.
- Help implement radio communication throughout the mill to better serve our customers.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE EQUIREMENT:
- Associate Degree (or related business program preferred) or equivalent experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Must have high level of interpersonal skills in order to handle a diverse customer base and sensitive and confidential situations.
- Must have advanced knowledge of and ability in a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands.
- Ability to learn and retain product information and complex processes.
- Must have good judgment and the ability to independently make solid decisions.
- Analytical ability is required in order to gather and summarize data, find solutions to problems, and prioritize work.
- Work requires continual high-level attention to detail.
- Feed Mill based position with typical hours of 7:30 am – 5 pm M-F. Available to work extended seasonal hours as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Position requires this candidate to work 40 hour per week in this full-time position.
- Schedule includes seasonal weekends and holidays, flexibility is essential.
- Fast-paced environment working on a computer while standing/ sitting up to 8 hours per day with overtime required as needed.
- Based at the Feed Mill Office where feed dust and a fluctuation of temperature is part of the normal work environment due to the nature of the feed mill business.
- Smoke-free environment that will be indoor and outdoor work and may present a fluctuation in temperatures.
- This role may also require physical movements such as walking on uneven ground, standing, squatting, stooping, and occasional lifting, climbing and stacking of product.
