POSITION SUMMARY:
The Produce Clerk will provide quality customer service within the Produce Department by providing our valued customers with fresh produce as ordered by the Produce Manager. All duties will be performed in a manner that will help achieve the Medford Cooperative’s mission and goals.
Responsibilities
- Greet all customers with a friendly attitude and serve our customers in a friendly, efficient manner
- Promote positive culture and ensure effective communication
- Serve customers throughout the store while modeling a service-oriented culture and providing “best in class” customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, and thanking every guest for their business.
- Receive, process, prepare, wrap, slice, weigh and label packages.
- Maintain proper shelf, case and display conditions to include: stocking, cleaning, straightening and rotating product, typically weighing less than 20 lbs.
- Maintain proper cooler conditions to include: rotating, cleaning and organizing cases or products.
- Provide consistent, timely and friendly customer service when answering questions, making recommendations and promoting products through suggestive selling.
- Ensure that the Produce department is always full and fresh with the best quality products
- Walk department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times
- Assist to create attractive department displays and end caps based on specific sales for the week
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures
- Reports to work at the assigned/scheduled time and may be required to fill in as needed in other customer facing roles
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- HS Diploma or equivalent preferred
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Position requires this candidate to work 40 hour per week in this full-time position.

- Ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions, priorities and circumstances
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Ability to accommodate a fluctuating schedule, including evening, weekend and holiday shifts
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to frequently lift, bend and twist 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Stand and walk for the duration of work shift. Sitting occasionally.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, stand, reach, pull and lift overhead regularly.
- This position is indoors but at times may be exposed to heat/cool temperatures when entering coolers.
