Please make sure you read the following details carefully before making any applications.SummaryThe CAD Design Specialist is responsible for performing moderately complex design services using CAD software for a variety of multi-faceted civil engineering projects and disciplines. The person in this position is expected to exercise a strong work ethic, have a desire to learn new design concepts, and have excellent organizational and communication skills. A Design Specialist 2 should demonstrate full proficiency with drafting fundamentals and be able to efficiently apply 2D and 3D design concepts. This person is expected to work well with others, absorb and apply constructive criticism, and seek guidance from more experienced members of the team as necessary. This position works under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer.Job Responsibilities and DutiesTo be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Provides clear communication and direction to others and takes responsibility for their results.Project DeliveryProduces the following under limited direction / oversight from a licensed engineer and oversees others with less experience : Technical reports and memosProject specificationsConstruction quantity calculations and cost estimatesDesign documents and construction plansTechnical approach content for proposalsUnderstanding Budget and ScheduleStrong understanding of scopes, schedules, and budgets. Able to predict and deliver individual tasks within a set level of effort. Able to consistently meet budget and schedule expectations on projects. Develops budgets and schedules for complex tasks. Breaks down complex projects into logical tasks. Able to prioritize multiple assignments to successfully deliver all assigned projects on time and on budget. Mentors others on above.Industry Standards and RegulationsInterprets, selects, and employs market sector-specific and client-specific design standards and codes, as applicable, with advanced skillActively mentors others on interpreting design codesUnderstands limitations of design codesClient InteractionFrequent direct communications with clients to resolve technical issues on moderate to complex projects. Leads client project meetings. Provides technical guidance on proposals.Education and / or ExperienceBachelor's Degree preferredYears of experience required : 6 yearsYears of experience required with advanced degree : 5 yearsCertificates, Licenses, RegistrationsDesign-specific certifications preferredMust have a valid driver’s license and a good driving recordMathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
