Position Summary

The Creative Arts Associate Licensed Mental Health Therapist (Creative Arts Therapist) is an integral team member of both HopeSparks and participating school support teams. The Creative Arts Therapist will provide a contemporary approach to mental health treatment that utilizes expressive or creative arts therapies (music, poetry, dance, art, etc.), to provide evidenced-based mental health intervention to middle school students in partnership with Franklin Pierce School District.

The HopeSparks Hip Hop Therapy program is strengths-based and guided by tenets of J.C. Hall's Hip Hop Expressive Arts Therapy (HEAT) using measurement-based care and easy to implement evidence-based treatments. The focus is just as much on prevention as it is on treatment, providing culturally relevant services to students with mental health needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

School-Based Group Expressive or Creative Arts TherapyMust have experience leading groups of children, youth, and / or teens in expressive or creative artsExperience with Hip Hop Therapy or other culturally relevant arts preferredProvide culturally relevant expressive or creative art therapy services to middle-school-youthMust be able to collaborate with school / community-based teams to provide servicesCollect and manage program outcome data as directed by leadershipIndividual Mental Health Therapy

Must be able to engage middle-school-aged youth in a full range of community mental health services either in-person or via telemental health (through video and / or phone conferencing) including :

clinical assessmentproblem identificationneed for medical necessity (DSM 5 criteria / justification)evidence-based treatment modalitiessupport and referrals to crisis interventioncase managementadvocacyoutreach / prevention and intervention

Utilize the Electronic Health Record System to document treatment plans, diagnostic information, treatment notes, and other necessary case documentation in a timely manner according to policyDemonstrate clinical competence by interacting with clients in an ethical and professional manner and using supervision and group consultation as necessary and recommendedRequired Qualifications

Master's Degree and Licensure in counseling, social work, or a related fieldExperience working with children, youth, and familiesTraining in evidence-based practice preferredTraining in trauma-informed care / understanding of trauma stewardship preferred

Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsExceptional organizational and case management skills preferredAptitude in resolving issues and conflictsMust be reliable, hard-working, and demonstrate a commitment to community mental healthValid State driver's license, automobile insurance, and dependable transportationMust pass a background clearance and state patrol checkPreferred Qualifications

Expertise working with middle-school-age children is highly desirableSpanish written and spoken fluency highly desirableExceptional organizational and case management skills preferredJob Conditions

Work will be performed primarily in a school-based setting and may also include community-based and agency-clinical setting or via telehealth. This role must be available during school and after-school programming hours.
