Entry Level Mechanical Designer - Portland, ME
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND SKILL PREREQUISITESResponsible for drafting and designing Mechanical and Plumbing systems using the latest version of Revit and / or AutoCADLayout and design systems, perform calculations, navigate / investigate code requirements, and produce working documentsWork closely with the technical team members, vendors, and clients in producing final drawings and completing design tasksMust have basic knowledge of applicable codes and general engineering practicesWork independently under the direct supervision of the dept manager, with guidance with from senior engineersIs capable of handling basic projects and making competent decisionsUsing basic design criteria furnished by engineer, performs calculations for design of various components and prepares final drawingsProficient in the use of heating / cooling load calculation software (Carrier's HAP or similar)May be assisted by one or more employees of lower classification but does not have full supervisory responsibilityModifies design to fit into structure and coordinates the disciplines of the design teamCoordinate the documentation to ensure compliance with code, client, and building requirementsReceives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed project plansCoordinate activities or tasks that need to be performed by engineers or designers to assure a thorough, timely end productPerform fieldwork to gather or confirm dataMay function as job coordinator, responsible for Drafting standardsAbility to develop and oversee standardsMay also be able to handle certain project management responsibilitiesREQUIREMENTS
Education : High school diploma or recognized equivalent required. BS / AS degree and / or technical certifications in mechanical design preferred.Registration Required : EI desired
