Position :

Lecturer in Chinese literature and culture

Starting Date :

The first day of Spring quarter is March 26, 2025.

Salary :

Based on 100% annual salary of $68,247. Approximately $8,530.87 per course (pending final budget approval) Appointment is eligible for renewal depending on need, funding and performance.

All appointments are contingent upon the appointee being able to provide, in accord with Federal law, evidence of authorization to work in the United States

This position is contingent on funding and enrollment

Qualifications :

The Department of Comparative Literature and Languages at University of California, Riverside, seeks to hire a part-time lecturer in Chinese literature and culture. This position is renewable based on positive performance reviews and departmental and curricular need.

Minimum requirements are an MA in Chinese literature and culture or a related field. Applicants holding a Ph.D. or who are ABD (with MA) are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to candidates with native or near-native fluency in English, expertise in premodern Chinese literature and culture, and experience and success in teaching Chinese Literature and Culture at an American university. Additional ability and experience in teaching modern Chinese literature and culture are also preferred.

Duties :

Duties consist in the instruction of 2 quarter courses in Chinese literature and culture; collaboration with the Chinese faculty in the maintenance and support of the Chinese major and program; mentorship of students.

CHN 30 / CPLT 30 / AST 30, "Introduction of Chinese Civilization"

CHN 118e / AST 118e, "Masterworks of Chinese Literature in Translation : Ancient Times through Early Imperial Dynasty"
