The Municipal Authority of the City of Monongahela is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of full-time treatment plant operator. As operator, the successful candidate is expected to do the following job functions :
Assist the Chief Operator in the safe operation and with the maintenance of the entire treatment plant and sewage collection system. Observeplant and pump station operations and checkfor potential issues / problems. Readmeters, gauges, charts and instruments and documentall required information. Performpreventative maintenance on plant and pump station equipment. Repairand replacepumps and motors, electrical panels, controls, and related mechanical equipment. Clean, lubricateand changecomponent parts and otherwise maintainprocess monitoring and control systems. Performrecord keeping functions such as logging information regarding plant operation, test results from process lab, maintenance work performed and unusual operating conditions. Assistwith equipment replacement and / or installation projects. Takesamples of wastewater, scum, grit, sludge and other materials and properly records chain of custody information; assistwith lab testing to determine efficiency of treatment processes. Readdiagrams, blueprints, specifications and manuals for installation, repair, and construction projects. Performgrounds and facilities maintenance and cleaning activities as required. Updatesupervisor and staff regarding work assignment status in a prompt and courteous manner. Maintainand serviceequipment as well as hand and power tools; maintaininventory of frequently used supplies and parts. Contributeto the efficiency and effectiveness of the Municipal Authority'sservice to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. DriveAuthority vehicles to work sites and transports materials as required. Demonstratecourteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with the public and staff; actin a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment. The position requires occasional, rotationalweekend duty and work on some Holidays on a rotational basis in addition to availability for after-hours emergency situations. PADEP wastewater class B, E and subclass 1 (activated sludge) certification is strongly preferred, but candidate must be willing to obtain in 18 months or less. Valid PA driver’s license is required. Background check and preemployment physical is required.
