The Accounting Specialist III will handle financial reporting, sales commission management, AR collections, payroll accruals, bank reconciliations and sales tax filings for multiple affiliated entities. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reports, calculating commission eligibility and overseeing the collection process. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, proficiency in Excel, and a commitment to operational efficiency.
Essential Responsibilities:
Affiliated Entities Reporting/Payroll/Reconciliations:
- Assemble individual and consolidated financial statement packages for all affiliated entities.
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations for each entity ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
Commissions/Eligibility Reports:
- Run monthly eligibility reports to identify invoices that have been paid and are eligible for commission payouts.
- Prepare commission reports for salespeople and the payroll manager to ensure commissions are processed on time for end-of-month payroll.
Collections:
- Own and maintain collections software to manage the collections process and issue dunning notices.
- Monitor AR aging reports to track past due invoices, establish strong relationships with customers, and follow up on overdue accounts via email or phone.
Sales Tax Filing:
- File monthly sales tax reports through the appropriate state agencies for various entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
Special Projects:
- Lead or support accounting projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and overall financial performance.
Team Collaboration:
- Act as a collaborative partner across departments, providing support and working closely with team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in marketing/advertising.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
- Hands-on experience with accounting ERPs (QuickBooks and/or Sage Intacct preferred).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including proficiency with VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
- Experience managing general ledger functions.
- Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
Supervision/Contacts:
- Directly reports to the Accounting Manager
Work Environment:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior office environment that requires normal safety precautions such as typical office or administrative work.
Physical Demands:
Job involves sitting most of the time; walking, lifting, bending, and standing may be minimally required to complete tasks.
Travel:
Rare (less than 10% of the time).
Work Location:
This position is based full-time (5 days) at our office in Hidden River Parkway (Fletcher & I-75).
