The Job
TMS US/CA is seeking a Head of Production, US and Canada. This position is responsible for the oversight of productions across television and features across scripted and unscripted content. The candidate will report to the Head of Studio, US and Canada.
The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with strong production management abilities, attention to detail, who has a passion for bringing stories to life. This exciting role will be part of the US and Canada studio leadership team that will spearhead the content slate of a new office for an established, global company.
Responsibilities
· Lead and optimize operations across pre-production (breakdowns, scheduling, casting, wardrobe, props, set decoration, makeup, bookings), production (directors, crews, production management, actor management, equipment, facilities, locations), and post-production (editing, color grading, vfx, sound design, dubbing) ensuring project deadlines and budget requirements are met.
· Drive innovation and continuous improvement in production quality, reduce costs, and shorten time to market using state-of-the-art production technologies, methodologies, outsourcing, and out-of-the-box thinking.
· Improve project management of pre-production, production and post production.
· Monitor and analyze production metrics, budgets and performance data to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous optimization of production processes.
· Review budgets, schedules, timelines and cost reports, while providing feedback on financial viability and risks. Forecast, track and manage overall content budget; collaborate with Finance to project overall production department spend.
· Facilitate the scaling of all facilities, processes, teams, security and production capabilities to be able to grow with the company.
· Design and implement the best organization and team for scaling globally. Build and review comprehensive staffing plans ensuring optimal resource allocation and project success; manage capacity planning.
· Establish and enforce rigorous quality control processes to maintain the highest standards of production quality and external partner satisfaction.
· Manage and expand relationships with key industry partners, including outsourcing firms, technology providers, and freelance talent pools.
· Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of production staff, ensuring high performance and efficiency.
· Develop and implement robust production policies and protocols to maximize productivity and ensure consistency across various projects.
· Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in digital media
production to inform decision-making and maintain our competitive edge.
· Collaborate closely with other department heads to align production objectives with overall company goals.
Key Qualifications
· Minimum of 15 years in production management in television and film, with significant senior leadership experience both in in the field and corporate across a high-volume, dynamic environment.
· Deep expertise in all aspects of film and video production across all budget levels, including technical knowledge of production equipment and software.
· Extensive experience working in production management in a production company or studio.
· Global understanding of maximizing tax incentives and rebates.
· Deep expertise with managing U.S., Canada and international productions.
· Deep knowledge of film community including but not limited to writers, directors, producers, and key crew members.
· Ability to build and maintain positive, constructive working relationships with internal departments (e.g., management, staff) and all creative partners (e.g., talent, crew).
· Demonstrated ability to effectively manage large teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
· Adept at anticipating potential issues, identifying problems, recommending and implementing solutions
· Strong financial acumen, with expertise in building budgets, and a proven track record of reducing costs while enhancing production quality.
· Proficiency in project management tools, production software, and digital content creation tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, G-suite, Movie Magic, Smartsheet, Monday etc.).
· Knowledge of union and guild agreements: IATSE, DGA, WGA, and SAG
· Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and business needs, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.
· Knowledge of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in media production.
· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively
· Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
· Spoken/written Spanish language proficiency is a plus.

Salary Range: $275K-375K
