The Role
The Public Relations Manager is responsible for the success and quality of our public relations products and services. They are expected to be able to take responsibility for any project in public relations including campaign success, earning media relations results, client relations, financial / budget and quality. The manager is a mentor to junior staff and has a positive impact on the workflow and input on the direction and vision of the department.

What you will be responsible for :
- Ability to positively influence strategic direction, identify the need for and create appropriate high impact deliverables. Plans, organizes, and executes strategic communications plans that align with MediaSource and client priorities, initiatives, and business goals.
- Focused on quality standards at a project level, especially but not limited to earning impactful media results.
- Cultivates and manages relationships with members of the press, and leverages those relationships to get results for MediaSource clients.
- Navigates the intersection of what reporters want and what will dazzle brand leadership to deliver win-win coverage.
- Expert on industry trends, evolutions in the news ecosystem and establishes and enforces best practices to leverage this knowledge to garner media results.
- Leads meetings and takes deliberate steps to organize the team and drive the department forward.
- Functions as the main contact for larger clients / projects, sharing guidance and direction for other collaborators
- Manages up to three direct reports. Collaborates with and delegates to employees who are responsible for gathering client coverage across paid, earned, shared, owned media with a heavy focus on earned media outcomes. Coaches others, driving accountability and proactively and clearing barriers to ensure team success.
- Understands budget models, scope and resource allocation for projects and departments and can make resource responsible decisions to increase profitability.
- Works with MediaSource Creative and Strategy & Analytics teams to further client goals based on news media trends and opportunities.
- Collaborates with the Director of Public Relations, VP of Public Relations and other senior leaders to reinforce and carry out the company culture and vision.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
Requirements
Who you are :
Education : Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism or strategic communications preferred.
Experience : Minimum 5-10 years experience in public relations with a proven track record of earning high impact media relations results. Client leadership / account management experience is desired. Newsroom experience is helpful. Proficient in Google office, media databases and project management programs.

Location : MediaSource is located in Columbus, Ohio. This is a hybrid role based in the Central Ohio area that includes both remote working and workplace-based in person collaboration which takes place at a minimum of twice per week.
