We are a growing property management company, with 38 years of service, overseeing state-of-the-art and luxury residential buildings across the Boston metro area. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sheet rocking, painting, light carpentry and general maintenance. Responsible for maintaining client’s high-end residential properties in downtown Boston area to include a wide range of basic maintenance and repairs typically performed around the home, installing trim and molding, preparing surfaces and applying paint.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Troubleshoot and resolve general home improvement issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance and conduct general inspections of buildings.
- Miscellaneous work such as replacing tiles, installing doors, and changing locks.
- Participate in safety meetings and adhere to programs, policies, and procedures while performing job duties. Always maintain a safe work environment and report any safety concerns / issues to the Property Manager
- Communicate with residents in a professional manner.
- Maintain records regarding work performed and complete respective work orders.
- Install trim, crown molding, baseboards, and other finishing elements with precision and accuracy.
- Hang doors, install hardware, and ensure proper fit and functionality.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, scraping, patching, and priming as needed.
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, and sprayers.
- Protect furniture, fixtures, and other items from paint splatter and damage during the painting process.
- Ensure proper mixing and matching of paint colors to achieve desired results and consistency.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
- Schedule and supervise vendors
- Enforce company and building policies and procedures
- Effectively communicate in English including the ability to compose email notifications and instructions; read emails, instructions, and manuals; and understand, interpret, and relay verbal and written communication, information, and instructions
- Work with/follow up with Property Manager and owners to ensure concerns are addressed in a timely manner
- Snow removal & plowing
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in general maintenance
- Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks including general handyman repairs, light demo, carpentry, drywall installation, tape & plaster, painting, identifying roof and pipe leaks, basic plumbing (toilet and faucet repairs), basic electrical (replace bulbs and diagnose issues), job clean-up, masonry, roofing repair, window repair, garbage disposal, HVAC, lock installation, and operating equipment and tools.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools common to the trade.
- Proficiency in a variety of painting techniques and finishes, including brushing, rolling, and spraying.
- Knowledge of paint types, color theory, and surface preparation methods.
- Experience working in residential and commercial painting settings.
- This position requires English proficiency.
- Must be able to participate and be a part of our on-call rotation. As part of a rotation basis with the other maintenance employees you will be On-Call for a period of 7 days, Tuesday through Monday after business hours weekdays and 24 hours on the weekend.
- Move, lift, push, or carry objects weighing less than or equal to 60 pounds, unassisted.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to pass criminal, credit and driving record checks.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license .
- Travel to a variety of work sites every day.
- Must be a self-starter with thorough understanding of residential maintenance skills.
- Some outdoor duties include snow shoveling in poor weather conditions.
- Positive attitude and the ability to act professionally at all circumstances.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass background check.
